Actor Sonam Kapoor's not amused with the criticism back home despite getting the thumbs up at Cannes


With papa, actor Anil Kapoor not being able to make it to Cannes, it was time for some girlie fun for his daughters, filmmaker Rhea and actor Sonam Kapoor there.

"Oh! I ate all the food that I am not supposed to eat and I had a whale of a time," says Sonam, who's just returned from Cannes. "I was busy doing shoots, attending parties and giving interviews, while Rhea watched me from a distance. But we sisters had a gala time there. It was a wonderful, wonderful experience," she adds.

Sonam knows that her dresses, which were loved at Cannes, went unappreciated here. "It's like a crab mentality — there's always an urge to criticise everything that comes your way. So, instead of being proud of the fact that so many stars from Bollywood are making heads turn there, some have written nasty stuff about it. But back there, everybody loved my dress. I was put on the cover of an important woman's magazine and was featured in at least two more fashion magazines. I'm really not bothered... I have got enough validation that my sister (Rhea) did a fabulous job as a stylist," says the actor.

Sonam's only regret is that she could not watch any of the films in the festival, as she had back-to-back engagements that kept her on her toes. "Other than the red carpet, I attended a dinner hosted by filmmaker Peter Lindbergh wearing a saree designed by fashion designer, Masaba. Next day I went to the Chopard party and the most exciting part was, of course, a private dinner by designer Roberto Cavalli where only 30 people were invited. The kind of response I got there was heartwarming. But I wish I could have a seen a film. I really wanted to watch Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris," she says.
