Sonam's "sweet" problem

Recently, Sonam Kapoor did her good deed when she shot for an ad for diabetes awareness which says: Diabetes is a silent killer, watch out.
What is not known is that Sonam is insulin-resistant. Who knew that the sweet actress would have to swallow such a bitter truth?
She happened to discover this only last year by a stroke of chance. Her official spokesperson confirmed that Sonam is insulin-resistant. She said there are no symptoms of discomfort. She has to take regular medication for some time. Insulin resistance is a condition in which the body produces insulin but does not use it properly. Insulin, a hormone made by the pancreas, helps the body use glucose for energy.
Dr Rajiv Kovil, who is a diabetes specialist, said, “Most obese people are insulin resistant. Insulin manufactured in your body does not act upon you. Insulin resistance is a basic underlying defect which can progress into diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome and polycystic ovary syndrome.”
However, it is admirable that Sonam has put her heart into promoting the cause of diabetes awareness.
