A warm Welcome
I wouldn’t mind if Sonam does a kissing scene - Anil Kapoor
If movie-goers don’t “welcome” his latest offering, Anil Kapoor won’t mind it. “I will move on to the next movie...It’s a race,” says Kapoor, with a big smile on his face. Hoping that the movie would go down well with the cine buffs, Kapoor however says that if the movie comes a cropper, it is not the end of the road for him. “Hum log jada nahin sochate...age chalte rahtein hain.”
Looking fit and fresh, Kapoor refuses to term “Welcome” a comedy thriller. “It is a pure entertainer. The movie will be loved by people of all ages. All efforts have gone into making the movie acceptable to one and all,” says Kapoor while recounting the camarderie he shared with co-actors Nana Patekar, Akshay Khanna and Paresh Rawal on the sets of Welcome.
But who is Kapoor paired opposite in Welcome. Without a blinking an eyelid, he leans on Nana Patekar sitting next to him. “He is my heroine and not Katrina Kaif,” he laughs.
Unlike Dharmendra, who refuses to take questions on Esha, Kapoor doesn’t mind talking about daughter dear. How will the father react if Sonam wears skimpy clothes or does a kissing scene on the silver screen? “It is her discretion. Why should I oppose it? She is a grown up child. She knows what is good and what is bad for her,” says a calm and composed Kapoor. In the same breath, he stresses that he doesn’t interefere with Sonam’s work. “I wouldn’t like to comment about Dharmendra... but as far as I am concerned, Sonam is free to take her decisions.”
Does she oppose her dad doing intimate scenes with his actresses. “No,” says the “one-two-ka-four” man even as he gets philosophical. Today’s generation, says Kapoor, is more alert and smart. “They know how to make the right moves.”
