Trust Salman Khan to stand up for his teammates. Recently, Khan came to his co-actor Sonam Kapoor’s rescue, who was taken back by Indian vice-captain Yuvraj Singh’s verbal counter-attack on her.

The Saawariya team – Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor – had been invited to interact with the Indian and Australian cricketers at a cafe in Mumbai.

The film actors were supposed to ask some questions to the cricketers. Sonam asked Yuvraj jokingly, “You are often seen with socialites. Who is with you tonight?” Yuvraj was at his wittiest best. He shot back, “What are you doing tonight?” Sonam was completely shocked. She didn’t expect such a suggestive counter-question.

Says an eye-witness, “There was a stunned silence when Yuvraj asked Sonam such a bold question. Everybody looked at Sonam. The poor girl didn’t know what to say in return.” Salman took stock of the situation and came to Sonam’s rescue.

He knew immediately that Sonam would not be able to find a witty reply to Yuvraj’s question. He grabbed the mike and said, “Yuvraj is going out with me tonight.” Everybody burst into laughter, and the situation was saved.

“After that, Yuvraj did not say anything, he just kept quiet and laughed along with everyone,” says the eyewitness.
